Scholarship Descriptions:

GA CAPS

Who is Eligible?

  • Child Protective Services (CPS) and Court Ordered Supervision Cases – Requires a referral from CPS.

  • Children enrolled in a lottery funded Georgia’s Pre-K class

  • Children in DFCS Custody

  • Children with disabilities – Disabilities may include intellectual disabilities; hearing, speech, language impairments, visual, or orthopedic impairments; serious emotional disturbance, autism, traumatic brain injury, specific learning disability, significant delays in cognitive, communication, social, emotional, or adaptive development; or other health impairments that impact the child’s learning.

  • Families experiencing domestic violence

  • Families participating in or transitioning from TANF – Requires a referral from TANF and is limited to families who are participating in TANF employment or support services.

  • Families who have experienced a natural disaster within the previous 24 months.

  • Families who lack fixed, regular, and adequate housing

  • Families with very low income as defined by CAPS –  for applicable income limits by family size.

  • Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (GRG) – Must be participating in DFCS’s Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program.

  • Minor parents – Parental authorities 20 years of age or younger.

  • Need to protect – Children who need protective services but are not formally involved with CPS.

  • In addition to being in a priority group, families must meet the eligibility requirements listed below. Please note that only the most common verification options are listed below. Georgia Pre-K Program 

Georgia's Pre-K Program is a lottery funded educational program designed to prepare eligible four-year-olds for kindergarten. The program begins in August, just like the school system, and operates on a similar schedule of 6.5 hours per day, Monday-Friday, 180 days a year. It is designed to develop and master the skills necessary for children to be successful in kindergarten.

Child Care Aware Assisting Military Families

For children ages 0-12, administered by Child Care Aware® of America (CCAoA). If you would like to make a request to participate in the Air Force Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN) program for community child care fee assistance.

Step 1: All Air Force Active Duty, Guard/Reserve Active Duty, or Dual Status Reserve Technician Sponsors interested in participating in the MCCYN program for  community child care fee assistance, must create a household profile on MilitaryChildCare.com.

Step 2: All of the Air Force Sponsors living within 15 miles/20 minutes of an installation Child Development Center (CDC) or Family Child Care (FCC) program must make an active request for care in their household profile on MilitaryChildCare.com.

Step 3: If you are extended an offer for community child care fee assistance, it will be issued through MilitaryChildCare.com. The offer email will provide instructions on how to accept the space, as well as a link to the CCAoA fee assistance enrollment portal.

After you have created an account in the enrollment portal, you must then complete the electronic fee assistance application, upload the applicable supporting family eligibility documents listed on this webpage, and submit your application online.

Once your application and supporting documents have been received and reviewed, CCAoA will contact you regarding your eligibility, as well as the next steps in the application process.
